In looking over various knife making suppliers I see "Damascus" steel
blades which I believe more correctly should be called "pattern
welded", but that is just a remark in passing.
My question is; aside from pride of owner****p or other similar reason
is there any real reason to purchase one of these Damascus blades?
Are they really sharper, longer lasting, less likely to break, etc.,
then a normal steel blade? And by the same token, are there any
adverse reasons for buying one, other then their higher cost?
