I collect U.S. "Prexie" sheets (1938 presidentials) by plate and position
(really a fascinating area of collection -- I'll elaborate on "why" if
anyone is interested -- and these are among the last days in which one
can do it cheaply, as Gary Posner et al. are tearing up every sheet they
find to send in potential 95s, 98s, and 100s to PSE, sometimes many times
in a row. Any day now, the graded market will crash, but the sheets will
still be torn up....)
Some plate numbers are only recorded on bureau precancels, so my
collection, when complete, will by necessity contain precancels.
