rec.collecting.pins Charter

by "myPins.com" <google@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 27, 2007 at 04:11 PM

Hello folks. It has been almost 10 years to the day that the
rec.collecting.pins newsgroup was started. Many of you have never
seen the group's charter that was written and voted on over 10 years
ago. Please see the original below, and happy pin collecting!

Dr. Michael J. Miller

RATIONALE: rec.collecting.pins

There are millions of individuals all over the world who collect
and trade pins and buttons; these include, but are not limited to,
Olympic sponsor, mascot, commemorative, bid and NOC, Hard Rock
Cafe guitars, s****ts-related (auto and horse racing, football,
baseball,
etc.), hot air balloon, law enforcement, and cor****ate designs.
There is evidence of a large reader****p in Usenet (rec.collecting,
rec.s****t.olympics, and rec.collecting.s****t.misc newsgroups) and
on one mailing list, pinhe...@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
  Daily postings on the
mailing list have exceeded 30, and there are currently more than
120 members. In order to facilitate additional postings, a number
of pin-related Web sites have included their own bulletin board
and/or classified sections for this purpose. Additionally, pin
trading forums with a variety of postings exist on America On
Line, Compuserve and other commercial providers; however, users
of non-commercial ISP's do not have access to these sites and
related chatrooms. The creation of a Usenet pin-collecting
newsgroup would provide a global, universal site for pin-related
discussions.

CHARTER: rec.collecting.pins

The proposed rec.colecting.pins newsgroup will be open to
discussion on all aspects of any collectable lapel pin and button.
The scope of discussion will include, but is not limited to, trading
and selling, history of designs, production levels, and the value
of all pin and button collectables such as:

Olympic sponsor, mascot, venue, countdown and NOC;
Media;
Hard Rock Cafe guitar, anniversary and special event;
Auto racing event and sponsor****p;
Equestrian;
Baseball team and World Series;
Football team and Superball;
World Cup and other soccer-related;
Other s****ts-related, both professional and College;
Hot air balloon, cartoon, holiday and national/country;
Cor****ate;
Law enforcement;
Error and prototype;
Precious metal;
Political and convention;
Fraternity and club.

Additional lines of discussion may include updates on pin and
button trading shows and auctions, local chapter club events,
pin manufacturer information, collection appraisals and anything
related to this topic.

Marketplace activity (trading, buying and selling of pins and buttons)
is acceptable in this newsgroup; however, NO more than 1 post per
day may be submitted, and posting the same message on multiple
days is NOT allowed. Auctions are NOT permitted at any time.

END CHARTER
