Let's put this in context, shall we?

You have had your former Ebay account terminated after you ripped
people off and failed to send them promised books (user 'jpelan'). You
have been chased on your own message board and others (for example,
Shocklines) for refunds by people for several months. You do not have
three rooms full of valuable books, you have a few boxes of crappy
stock blagged and begged from bargain bins and fantasy conventions.

Rather sneakily, you quietly opened a new account with Ebay last
summer just as your old account was running into serious trouble. I
outed you in Shocklines several days ago as the seller
'darknemoblackcat' who was trying to offload typical Pelan crap on an
unsuspecting horror-buying public while sneakily trying to conceal
your identity. It is only in reponse to that outing that you have now
decided to 'own up' to being the person who originally went to great
lengths to try and conceal his identity.

The truth is that you have suffered a series of financial calamities
in the last few years, many of your own making. Your Darkside Press
books sell poorly and cheaply because they are poor and cheap
products. You lost your day job two years ago and were forced to move
home to pay debts, and while you claim to own a large and valuable
stock of books, the truth is that the people who have seen your
miserable little collection rate it as small and mundane with no
highspots.

In the interests of decency one should not poke fun at someone who has
suffered such a series of unfortunate calamaties. However, your
reputation as a malicious bastard who shows scant regard for others,
coupled with the fact that you have a proven track record of tring to
cheat and rip decent ordinary folk off, overrides any obligation to
'noblesse oblige'. For these reasons and these reasons alone, I have
no hesitation in seeking to warn potential Darkside Press and Midnight
House customers - in addition to Ebayers looking for genre books in
the horror or fantasy line - to give you an extremely wide berth.

Shocklines threads discussing Pelan's failure to pay writers and
failure to pay refunds:

Not surprisingly, Pelan has removed messages from his own message
board made by customers desperately chasing a refund. I have also
quite recently been told by two respected scholars that far from
respecting copyright, Pelan has flagrantly disregarded the law when it
suited him especially if it saved him a few sheckels. This would
appear to go hand-in-hand with his failure to pay writers.

I have been warning people about John Pelan for some time now. Now,
finally, Pelan is showing his true colours, and his name is rapidly
becoming a byword for dishonesty and unprofessionality.
