Have just bought the estate jewelry of an 80+ yr old collector. Wonder
delicious pieces circa 1840's-1940's. There is a lovely old graduated
bead
necklace opaque , a rich, dark orangy red. "Aha", I said," Too light for
glass, must be amber". However , it didn't pass the static electricity
test." Well, Bakelite, then." It failed the 409 test.
My instinct tells me it is Something Special as it is strung on a quailty
gold filled chain with 1/20 gf clasp. When held to a strong light the
beads go translucent with swirls. I refuse to believe that it's 'just
plastic.'
Any ideas?
