Yikes, I'm envisioning a lot of broken terminals. I'm just not willing to
risk a broken terminal anymore; it's too much hassle to replace. I have a
nice big 12" soldapullt. With two or three shots I usually get the solder
off the terminal, then I see how nasty the part removal job looks. If it's
easy (one or two wires on the terminal) I'll unwrap the old component and
remove it. Otherwise I'll clip it off close to the terminal and leave the
wrapped ****tion there, then insert the new part and just solder everything
together. I'm not going to pick at a terminal to remove a wrapped wire
unless I can't fit the new part in and really have no choice. Risk >
reward
most of the time.
