You hafta remember that a radio is just a collection of parts hooked in 
a certain way.  You don't have to understand much electronics...all the 
brainwork has been done at the factory.

So if you put everything back like its supposed to be then it should 
work.  End.

Mmmm, well, thats the philosophy to dive in with.  Mismatched schematics 
and older repairs are par for the course.  Clip out all the hokey stuff 
and call it a kit with a schematic and missing parts rather than trying 
  to make sense out of it. Get a highliter pin and mark your schematic 
"Cap .05 goes from pin 7 of that tube to pin 6 of the other tube" cuz 
the schematic sez so.
