It's a pair of output tubes with very similar transconductance and DC
plate 
current in the equipment they'll be installed in. Generally not worth it
for 
a consumer radio (most aren't designed for perfect reproduction, so
somewhat 
mismatched tubes aren't much of a problem), but in audio amps where people

are putting a lot of effort into the sound, matching is more im****tant.

Matching is generally done by testing tubes in a Hickok or other tester
that 
can measure transconductance.
