First Kutztown re****t

by "Keith Park" <topnotch@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 10, 2008 at 10:41 PM

Im back, another load of lucky finds aboard!

Another great meet is past, and with the amount of attendance and buzz
about
even with the rainy weather it really shows that this meet is going strong

and just getting stronger!

I arrived about 11:30 on Friday, and unloaded immediately as there was a
breif break in the rain... I swear that I could hear "Misty" coming from
one of the sets, and perhaps that was the theme of this meet first day and

it even put the prepared Tarp hanging folks to the test with its ability
to
blow around but the Kutztown venders were a tough group and they adapted,

Improvised and overcame any obsticles to having fun anyway!

Activity was strong early, by Noon at least half the folks were set up and

selling, alot of buzz keeping everyone warm and I had the usual sales
spike
right after (and during) setup. I didnt find anything for me on the first

walkabout but after an hour I found a nice grandfather clock radio in the
second pavilion (DONT forget that one, its starting to fill up with radio
folk now!) that Ive been meaning to invest in for a while now.
I had a nice talk with Bruce from Waves and my buddy Al bought his 37-116,

as I oogled his Majestic 300B.... I soon had one Zenith from Rain that
was
going home with me sans bezel and a nice distressed Philco 71 cathedral,
again, from the second Pavilion. Mike Koste seemed to be doing good
buisness as some of us were freezing our knobs off and I found several
that
I needed that he has just stocked up on over the winter. If you need
knobs,
he is definately the first person to talk to, he has alot of stuff but
what
I really like is the fact that his prices are VERY reasonable and he wont
gouge you just because its a hard to find or unusual knob!

I left before the Estes auction on Saturday so Ill leave that for someone
else to re****t on but I did find a nice "Hagstar Special" Philco 16B for
$50
just as I was leaving! and where was John?

Ill leave the Saturday ****tion for him to talk about as I cant write half
as
good a re****t as he can and he has about 150 pictures to go with it.... I
met up with him on Sunday morning after he arrived with some new parts on
his van and found sales seemed to be brisk at 8:30. I think the weather
kept some folks away, especially the general public but it sure didnt
dampen
the fun or enthusiasm and I think you'd be hard pressed to find a meet do
so
well on a rainy day! Saturday was much warmer and drier and I spent my
last
cash on a couple Chassis Ive been looking for for a long time and one more

very nice early Zenith console from Rain just after he had stashed it back

in his van... I always wait till the last minute to spend the last cash!

Now to have this stuff around all summer without being able to touch
it....
Yeesch! I wanna dig in NOW!

Keith
