remember, most tears or holes are minor repairs you can do in your own
shop
without reconing. Use manilla envelope paper or similar stuff for larger
holes. All the cone must do is move air without having loose parts which
cause buzzing and distortion. Also, you dont want the voice coil rubbing.
Besides cone damage, the most common failure of speakers is glue failing
and
the spider or cone edge coming unglued from the "basket" (frame). I like
to use GC "Service Cement". Other glues will work. Use flexible glues in
the "surround" (outer edge) area that must flex. Such as silicone glue or
rubber cement.
