Re: Alignment Troubles

Hi Dave,
The stations are not at their correct location on the dial, they are as
you said collectively ****fted towards one end with If I am lucky a few
stations scattered.
I do understand that the alignment is way off on the I.F. filters and
the Local oscillator is way off but if I try and align the way the
instructions say or even any of the ways the good people here have
suggested I get little to no improvement, that's what is so baffling.

Hi Bill,
What I suspect as self-oscillation is usually only occurring when I
try and adjust the I.F. cans to a certain spot.
I did however turn up the volume as instructed and taped(suspected
self-oscillation wasn't occurring) on the I.F tube and got a loud
pinging sound as well as on the Det.-Amp. tube as well. On the R.f.
tube I did get a ping just not as pronounced and I even tried to tap
the converter but when I touched it I got a change in static(hard to
explain the sound it made)type sound.

I did notice that if I touch the terminal on the variable capacitor
where the antenna connects(or connect a long wire there)the
static, sound and stations pick up and I am able to hear some stations
I otherwise wasn't able to hear before. Although trying to adjust
doing this has little effect if any.

Thank You for the Help and Patience I really Appreciate it.
