I've got a box or two of old bottles collected from the Nevada desert
by my father-in-law (RIP) during his years as a prospector in Mineral
County. We've carried them around for thirty years and every now and
then we live somewhere where there's room to display them. So, I'm not
a huge buff or any kind of expert. My interest runs more toward books.
Which is mainly why I joined here.
I found a lovely old book in the house we just moved into, and after
researching it a bit I put it on Ebay...it appears to be something
quite special...to collectors of old medicine bottles.
It is called "A COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO PATENT AND PROPRIETARY MEDICINE
BOTTLES of the 19th Century", by Joseph K. Baldwin, if you're
interested in looking.
Lest you think me a shameless spammer, I'll ask a question before I
close. Has any of you ever run across a bottle of Patrick's Bitters?
This would have be area specific to Augusta, Montana I'm pretty sure.
John W. Patrick was my G-G Grandfather; he supposedly bottled and sold
mineral water from the old Allen Ranch there. Whether or not it was a
commercial venture I don't know, but I'd love to find out.
Sincerely,
Angharod Brown-Bair
