Cap-powered Toy

by "J.B. Wood" <john.wood@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jan 23, 2008 at 01:22 PM

Hello, everyone. After much Googling I thought I'd try usenet. I'm
trying to determine the name of a toy I once owned that was powered by
cap pistol caps. It had a wooden barrel that was hollowed out to a
depth to accommodate the cap. Into that barrel was placed another
wooden piece with feathers attached (It looked like a badminton
shuttlecock). Connected to the wooden barrel was a horizontal dowel rod
about a foot long that was the handle. The contrivance when assembled
kind of looked like an peace pipe. You would grasp the handle and
strike the bottom of the barrel on a hard surface with the result that
the shuttlecock was propelled aloft by the exploding cap. Has anyone
ever seen a toy like this and what was it called? Thanks for your time
and reply. Sincerely,
