So, the movie line is pretty much done. Were there any standout molds
that you'll be keeping on display forever?
A few that leap out to me:
Leader class Optimus Prime: Large, massive, with a complicated
transformation and almost no kibble. He's a magnificent toy, but a
pretty mediocre Prime. I prefer the Nightwatch repaint, because it
looks even less like Optimus Prime.
Stockade: He doesn't do anything spectacularly, but he does everything
well. He has a nice, smooth, blocky look in both modes, that doesn't
really fit with the line, but that just makes it easier to fit him in
with toys from different lines. The giant arms are a bit awkward, but
there's no need for Transformers to have exactly human pro****tions.
Longarm: I wish he could put down his gun, and judging by his tech
spec, he does too. But, he's a rather nifty tow truck and a rather
nifty robot. I've always been partial to white robots, and the blue
and silverish grey work well.
Barricade: I think the mixture of demonic robot mode and police car
alt-mode works really well. And I think it's a reflection of a change
in society over the past 25ish years that rather than the police car
being a good guy, it's a bit more complex. He's also a damn good toy.
The traditional police deco works better for me than the rent-a-cop
deco
Of the bunch, I think Barricade will stay in the living room toybox
the longest, since he doesn't take up as much space as Prime, and is
one of the very few movie characters to actually have a character.
Anyway, which molds do you love?
Gustavo!
