REVIEW: DW G1 #3: Skyfire

by decepticoncommand@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Enfilade) Aug 27, 2004 at 12:20 PM

Slowly catching up...this month's issue was #7...

Skyfire, like the Minibots, has a "battle mask" that looks like his
toy head, and under it, a face that looks like his cartoon face.

Sunstorm's threatening Skyfire/Jetfire (he's called Jetfire in the
comic) for grabbing him...Skyfire reacts to being called a
"blasphemer" with the crack "I've always considered myself somewhat of
an agnosti..." (here he is smacked one by Sunstorm and loses his grip
on the zealous Seeker).

Fight. Guess what? Those projections on Skyfire's toy-head are
functional guns. :) Poor Sunstorm, thinking coming at Skyfire from
behind is a good idea....

So after Sunstorm gets shot up, Skyfire addresses Starscream and it
was revealed this fight took place the day before in the Decepticon
undersea base.

RAKSHA STOP READING THIS NOW =20

Which is called the Nemesis.

*ahem* Jetfire is on the Orion, telling the Autobots how the
radiation ****elding in his armour protected him from Sunstorm's
attacks. Bumblebee and Jetfire quibble about whether Sunstorm has
supernatural powers; Starscream remarks snidely that the Autobots, as
believers in the Covenant of Primus, should be able to accept the
mystical.

Starscream has begged Jetfire to protect him from Sunstorm, and
Jetfire tells the Autobots that he knows where Sunstorm has gone.

On Iacon, Prowl is dejected that the populace is so critical and
demanding of the Autobots, as if they weren't really pleased by the
recent Autobot return to power (in WAR AND PEACE). The Cybertronian
Autobots wonder if perhaps they are not more needed elsewhere.

On Earth, Brawn is irritated about fixing Starscream, even though that
was the only way to find where the captive Autobots are, and irritated
at helping him, even though Sunstorm poses a threat to everyone, and
figuring Bumblebee's not cut out to lead...which Bumblebee overhears.
Bumblebee's low-self-confidence moment is interrupted by Starscream
yelling at Ratchet (Starscream's being his usual pleasant self)

Ratchet's plan is to take a genetic (??) sample of Starscream and
place it in a device to create a decoy. Somehow Sunstorm can track
Starscream wherever he goes.

Great line from Ratchet: "Instant ****table Decepticon. All the 'evil'
energy emissions--none of the annoying lip."

Jetfire has discovered that Sunstorm is a clone of Starscream, and
unlike earlier experiments with ****table reactors, appears to have
avoided the experiment's fatal flaw where the robots burned themselves
up. The plan is to wear Sunstorm out, then attach the decoy which
features an inhibitor field to put Sunstorm into stasis lock.

Fanwank: Bumblebee is flying a ****p that looks like his Cybertronian
form in MTMTE #1.

Problem with plan: Sunstorm falls for the decoy, but wearing him out
is harder than you'd think! Good thing Jetfire shows up, managing to
attach the inhibitor, but Sunstorm's still strong enough to fly away.

And in Alaska, Sunstorm asks his "brother" for help...he's dying...but
before Starscream can react, someone blows off the roof! to be
continued...
