Real life has intruded in a huge way.
Just last night, I was at an Improv comedy show put on by a troupe who
are buddies of mine. Afterwards Mel and I go to dinner--my first night
not staying with a sick uncle this week--and I get a call from my kid
sister. I was afraid that it was news that her mother-in-law, who's in
Hospice, had passed, but she needed me to come stay with my nephew while
she took her dog to the all-night animal ER. Luckily I was only about
five minutes away from her house. The dog is fine, but it made me have
to change my plans on the fly.
Today I'm video taping parts of an all-day outdoor concert in
Charleston. Later tonight I'm going to catch a great band from
Nashville (The Coal Men) at a local bar, and they're cra****ng at my
house afterwards.
In the past week I've had to deal with domino-effect toilet repairs,
sick elderly people (plural), producing my show, writing the PopCult
blog, doctoring stump speeches, being away from the computer for more
than 12 hours a day taking care of the uncle, babysitting the nephew,
Getting the spare rooms ready for guests, and just this morning, the
realization that my Central Air is not behaving normally, so I have to
get a service call on it.
So...there hasn't been a lot of time for Joes. I sitll have a huge
batch of articles for Mastercollector that I need to finish.
That's what I want more than anything right now....time.
