Apparently close to 15,000 Veterans who died as far back as 1890 (not
in battle, but of illness later in life) have been cremated and if
they had/have no family, stuck on a shelf and just left in government
storage.
I'm torn between finding this a horrably dishonorable way to treat
fallen soldiers and thinking "gee, the ashes of someone who fought in
the civil war would be kind of the ultimate collectable."
