WW II Japanese optics ?

by "Henry Kolesnik" <kolesnik@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sep 2, 2007 at 12:00 PM

At an estate sale I bought a Nikko No. 10037 10 X 4.5 degrees spotting
scope, and a Nikko No. 1874 25 X 2 degrees periscope binoculars. Also
got Tamaya ***tant with 16 8 16 in between some Japanese characters.
From some research I believe this means the ***tant was made in 1942.
All these items were brought back by a GI. The ***tant is missing some
parts like the eyepiece or scope. I've Googled and can't find much
info. So far I've found one picture of similar binocs and seen some
***tants on eBay and I think Nikko was the start on of Nikon. Any
suggestions on where to look appreciated.
tnx
Hank
