Re****t I fled with the Local police,

Subject: Stolen helmet and re paint fee. Total of $363.00

Back in March of 2005 I bought a rare WW1 German M1918 helmet on
Ebay for approx. $100 dollars and found a web site (no longer up)
www.thehelmetpainter.com run by Richard S. Langford. He specialized in
re painting German Helmets to make them look new or 60 years old. He
agreed to do my WW1 M1918 Helmet for the sum of $263.00 and this
included ****pping back to me fully insured.

It should be noted here that I was lucky to get the M18 helmet for
only 100 dollars. Do to the black paint most bidders could not tell it
was an M18 and probably assumed like I did that it was the more common
M16 helmet. The seller did not know either and I did not know until I
inspected it upon taking delivery. To buy an M18 helmet today would be
difficult as they do not show up on ebay every week like the M16
helmets. German helmets inc. is out of stock of Original restored M18
helmets and when they are in stock they sell for $369.00 in size 64
the same size I sent to Mr. Langford. Confirm this here,
http://www.germanhelmetsinc.com/restored%20WW1%20helmets.html

I sent the helmet and a week later Rick let me know that he got it
safe and sound. Due to his policy on the site I did not bother him
about wait time. I was told it might be a while and on his site it
said wait time was about 3 months. After 5 or 6 months I sent an e
mail asking about how things were going. I was told by Mr. Langford
that all he had to do was put on one more coat and he'd send it out
that week. Nothing ever came and the next time I wrote him he no
longer answered his e mail at Issah@[EMAIL PROTECTED]
I figured he was busy and I'd get my helmet sooner or later. After
my helmet was gone for just over a year I tried to contact him and no
reply to E-mail. I send a letter via U.S. Post service instructing
rick that he should send my helmet back done or not because at that
point I no longer cared about his work, the time frame was simply
silly and I was going to have someone else do it. Never heard from him
nor was my helmet sent back. I asked around on a collecting forum
(http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/index.php)
and the chatter or
rumors was that Mr. Langford had taken a job as a contractor in Iraq.
Since he was a painter of houses and did restoration work this seemed
logical and I decided that this was why I never got my helmet back or
heard form him. I decided to sit tight for a year as that is the
amount of time most people stay to work in Iraq.
It has now been 2 years and 4 months since I sent my helmet to Mr.
Langford and I went to his web site three days ago to see if there was
any up dates to be seen and discovered his web site is no longer up. I
have to assume he's gotten out of the helmet painting hobby and since
my helmet was not sent back I have to assume it's not stolen along
with the money I sent him to do the paint work!
Two days ago I again sent Mr. Langford an E-mail asking that he send
my M18 helmet back to me and I noticed his E-mail did not bounce. He
is getting E-mail but seems to not want to respond?
After a kamiah Marshall came to my house (807 baker Add. on July
16th) and looked over the details of the case and left I called 411
for listings of Richard S. Langford in Sea Side Ca and there was only
one number by the same last name at 831-394-2882. I called and asked
if there was a family relation and the lady on the phone said yes and
that they are related to Mr. Langford. I confirmed it was the same
Mr. Langford when I asked if he was a painting contractor by trade and
the lady said yes that Mr. Langford was. I left a message about my
helmet and asked that he call me back and stated that unless I hear
from Rick in 48 hours I was going to submit this re****t and re****t the
helmet and paint fee as stolen. I have since not heard anything from
Mr. Langford at the time of this writing.

Mr. langford's address is or was last I knew,

1555 Mira mar Ave.
Seaside Ca 93955

A photo of the helmet I sent and copy of the work order confirmation
print out is included.
