Hi all,
Picked one of these up from auction a few days
ago. Powers up, solid state amp "seems" to thump
'on', but I cannot add credits via the service
switch and therefore, cannot play a record. At
the service switch, all I can get the machine to
do is move the mech back and forth. Unplugging the
service switch connector from the digital control
center, I notice the play meter disengages. And
when plugged back in, engages again - indicating
a short from the DCC going to the counter? Not
sure if that's totally my problem or not, but
this might be a start...
Should I be looking at the coin mech for a stuck
switch? Wiper switches look fine, but there are 4
of them and that stand vertically near the coin mech.
Any suggestions besides making darn sure those aren't
stuck? What component(s) inside the digital control
center would be to blame? This juke will be for home
use only, so I could care less if the coin mech works.
Also, my digital control center (DCC 42) does not seem
to match the amplifier. In other words, they do not line
up properly, the DCC is smaller and the DCC's hinge
actually touches the base of the right hand horn tweeter.
Also, as an aside and as "blasphemous" as this might
sound: if this machine turns out to be too much of
a "project", the thought has crossed my mind to replace
ALL of the insides with a nice vintage SS amp with an
iPod or possibly a PC/Mac hooked to a flat screen
mounted just under the title strip glass. This would
make the machine a helluva lighter to move and put in
the basement too :-)
Would rather NOT go this route if I can help it, but
have any of you done such a thing to their jukes?
Seems like you'd be able to wire and install something
like an iPod touch where you enter the record selection.
If I *do* end up going that route... anyone here need
the insides for a Seeburg Olympian 160? lol Machine
is located in Janesville, WI...
