Hmm, just checked and what I have is a copy of the cabinet, amp and
control service manual for the SCD-1, but nothing on the Sony player at
all.
As for your problem, I suspect that there is an alignment setup for
replacing the cam that you may have missed. Sometimes there are dimples
on plastic gears to show where they mesh relative to each other.
