Several places to check:

1. on the seat tube, running vertically below the front changer (on the 
back side).

2. on the inside of one of the chainstays

3. on the steering tube of the fork

What model is the bike? What's the color?

I was in the bike business for 20 plus years and sold Raleigh bikes for 
a long period of time.
