Hi,
This is a one time message so I hope it is OK to do this :o))
Some of you may already know that I run a charity called CHhugs - stands
for
Children's Hospice Hugs. What you may not know is that none of the 26 full
time children's hospices here in the UK receive any funding from the
government at all. They are totally reliant on donations to keep going.
When you consider there are 26 full time hospices dedicated just to
children, as well as 6 centres which either provide day respite care, or
hospice care in the home, you stop and realise just what kind of numbers
pf
sick children are involved. There are also several more hospice buildings
at
the planning stage or being built. Some of these will be exclusively for
teenagers so they don't have to share with the small children.
I have been to one of these hospices and I can only say that it was a
humbling experience. I do not know how the staff do their jobs. I know I
couldn't handle it.
So what does this have to do with autographs I hear you ask?
Well I approach celebrities and ask them if they will sign a couple of
Beanie Baby toys for us. One goes into a wish box for donation to a sick
child on request, the other we auction. The money we realise goes straight
into CHhugs - we take no personal money out whatsoever. I try and theme
the
name or type of Beanie to the person signing. For instance Robbie Williams
signed Millennium and the late Bob Hope signed a bear called Hope!
In two years we have been able to donate £9000 ($13,500) and over 1000
Beanie Baby toys to the hospices we sup****t.
We have also been able to donate signed items to several children,
including
one signed by Robbie Williams, one signed by the cast of Emmerdale,
another
signed by actress Dawn French and some Fan Packs from Liverpool Football
Club.
The reason for this mail (At last I hear you say!) is to let you know that
we are currently running auctions back to back all the way up to the
middle
of December.
We have a mailing list - which is announcement only so it won't fill your
ma
ilbox with chat! - which keeps you up to date with what is being auctioned
when the auctions start and a couple of updates during the ten day run of
the auction.
This is an invitation to join this list, and to help us spread the word of
CHhugs and what we do.
You can subscribe by sending a blank email to

have a 100% positive feedback, and these items are great for Christmas
gifts as well as collecting yourself.
What a great way to put a smile on the face of a terminally sick child.
Thank you for reading and please feel free to pass along this mail to
anyone
you think may be interested.
Best wishes
Shelley
